محكمة مصرية :السجن سبع سنوات لممدوح إسماعيل

قضت محكمة مصرية بالسجن لمدة سبع سنوات على ممدوح إسماعيل مالك العبارة السلام 98 التي غرقت 2006 في حادث راح ضحيته أكثر من ألف شخص وأصيب المئات.
وأفاد مراسلنا في الغردقة عمرو عبد الحميد بأن الحكم قوبل بحالة فرحة عارمة لدى عائلات الضحايا واعتبروه نصرا لهم بعد تداول القضية في المحكمة لنحو ثلاث سنوات.
وكانت محكمة جنح سفاجا قد قضت في يوليو/ تموز الماضي ببراءة ممدوح إسماعيل من التهم المنسوية إليه مما أثار ردود فعل غاضبة من أهالي الضحايا وناشطي المعارضة والمنظمات الحقوقية.
وقد طعن النائب العام المصري المستشار عبد المجيد محمودعلى حكم البراءة فأعيدت المحاكمة أمام دائرة أخرى.
كما افاد تقرير للجنة تقصي للحقائق شكلها مجلس الشعب المصري بأن العبارة لم تكن صالحة للإبحار بسبب المشكلات الفنية الكثيرة جدا وهو التقرير الذي استند إليه دفاع المدعين بالحق المدني في مطالبته بضرورة محاسبة مالك العبارة.
وقال مراسلنا إن قاضي المحكمة اعتبر في حيثيات حكمه أن مالك العبارة كان يجب ان يتخذ إجراءات أكثر فاعلية لإنقاذ الركاب بعد غرق العبارة، واستند القاضي في ذلك إلى التقارير عن حالة الجثث التي انتشلت والتي أظهرت بأن القتلى قضوا أكثر من يوم يصارعون مياه البحر.
ويشار إلى أن ممدوح إسماعيل ونجله غادرا مصر إلى بريطانيا بعد الحادث بفترة وجيزة.
وممدوح إسماعيل كان عضوا معينا في مجلس الشورى المصري، وقد أثار تأخر إجراءات رفع الحصانة النيابية عنه ثم مغادرته البلاد قبل المحاكمة انتقادات شديدة من المعارضة وأهالي الضحايا.
